Motorcyclist, 24, dead after crash in Barrhaven

A 24-year-old man is dead after he was thrown from his motorcycle when he lost control of it Thursday night in Barrhaven.

Police said the man was riding at the intersection of Strandherd Drive and Jockvale Road about 9:45 p.m. when the crash occurred.

Paramedics arriving at the crash tried to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strandherd Drive was closed for several hours as the Ottawa police collision investigation unit probed the circumstances of the crash.
