An Ottawa man was caught driving at almost three times the speed limit in a school zone in Gatineau on Tuesday, clocked at 83 km/h in a 30 km/h zone.
The driver, 57, was stopped on Boulevard Alexandre-Taché near Jean-de-Brébeuf primary school where police were conducting an operation to control speeding.
He was fined $803 and 10 demerit points were added to his license for the speeding offcence.
He was also fined $481 due to previous convictions under Quebec’s Highway Safety Code.
This second offence resulted in the driver’s car being seized for 30 days.
