Ottawa police are asking for the public’s assistance to locate a suspect who injured a clerk at knifepoint in an Alta Vista convenience store robbery.
On Feb. 25 at around 10:15 a.m., police say a man with a knife walked into a convenience store on Alta Vista Drive near Bank Street. The man pushed the store employee to the floor and held a knife to his throat, and then removed a quantity of cash from the register and ran off.
The victim sustained a small laceration and was treated on scene by paramedics.
The suspect is described as black, approximately 18 to 25 years old, and around five-feet-11-inches tall with a thin build. He may have had a mole near his mouth.
At the time of the holdup, the suspect was wearing a dark vest over a black, hooded jacket.
“This suspect was more violent than what we often see,” said Staff Sgt. Michael Haarbosch of the Ottawa police robbery unit. “We need the public’s assistance to identify him in order that we can quickly locate him before anyone else is hurt.”
