Jeremiah Addison forced overtime with a late third-period goal and the Ottawa 67’s prevailed in the shootout on Sunday evening, making it a winning weekend for the Barberpoles.
Ottawa had opened a 2-0 first-period lead at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, but the Generals closed the gap to 2-1 by the intermission and forged ahead 4-3 in the second. Addison pulled the visitors even with his 21st goal of the season at the 16:12 mark of the third.
The 67’s, now 25-22-1-1 in the Ontario Hockey League’s East Division, had opened the weekend with a 3-2 win over Peterborough on Friday night and then completed a 3-2 homestand with a 5-2 loss to Owen Sound on Saturday afternoon.
Dante Salituro, who became the 31st member of the 67’s 100-goal club on Saturday, scored his 29th of the season on Sunday before receiving a game misconduct for a slashing penalty late in the first.
Adam Craievich had a goal and two assists, and Ben Fanjoy also scored for Ottawa on Sunday, while Leo Lazarev earned the win in goal. The 67’s, who were outshot 38-19, went 1-for-4 on the power play while the Generals were 2-for-8.
