Want to help out as many as three charities in just one hour? Come to the Feb. 8 meeting of 100 Women Who Care, and you’ll have fun with another 99 women while supporting one of these great groups:
- Ancoura provides stable and affordable housing to adults with mental illness;
- Dress for Success empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing professional clothing and development tools; and
- Parrot Partner is a public education and adoption aviary for parrots.
100 Women Who Care Ottawa is for women who want to support grassroots charities in their city. As a member, you show up four times a year for one hour, and after a five-minute presentation from each of three featured charities, you give $100 to the charity of your choice. (You can also divide your $100 between charities.) Your donation entitles you to nominate your favourite charity for consideration at the next meeting.
The next meeting takes place Feb. 8 at the Heart & Crown, 353 Preston St. Social hour starts at 5 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6 p.m. sharp. Visit 100womenwhocareottawa.ca for more information.
Not a woman? No problem. Ottawa also has a 100 Men Who Care group. The men meet Feb. 23 at the Prescott Tavern, 379 Preston St., with a social hour at 6 p.m. and a one-hour meeting at 7 p.m. The charities they are supporting at this meeting include the Children’s Aid Foundation, the Council on Aging-Ottawa and the Hope Reins War Horse Program.
