Three buildings in the area of Rideau and Cumberland streets were evacuated Tuesday after a gas leak, according to Ottawa Fire Services.
It received a call about the incident at about 4 p.m. after reports that a two-inch gas main had ruptured. Buildings at 200, 234 and 242 Rideau St. were evacuated.
Crews dug up the area and capped an underground leak that was discovered shortly after the first leak had been capped by Enbridge Gas.
Residents were allowed back into the buildings later Tuesday evening.
