One man was treated for burns to his face after extinguishing a kitchen fire Saturday morning.
The 46-year-old man didn’t call Ottawa fire or paramedic services for help. Rather, he walked from his home on Twyford Street to the nearby fire station on McCarthy Road around 10 a.m.
Fire spokesman Marc Messier said the man had burns to his face and eyes, injuries sustained when he put out a kitchen fire with a blanket. Paramedics were called to the station to treat the man, while firefighters visited the house to ensure the kitchen wasn’t still burning.
Messier said three older children were in the house at the time, but they were not injured.
