A family that has already grappled with the loss of two children is in shock they will have to say their final goodbyes to two more after half-brothers were killed in a crash Sunday in Kanata.

Carolyn Boley, has already lost two of her six children. Boley’s daughter, Christine, died from asthma and another daughter Angela-Joy, died of cancer.

On Sunday, she lost her sons Jonathan Goicoechea, 33, and Daniel Louks, 49. They were pronounced dead after a two-car crash at March Road and Carling Avenue.

David Goicoechea said Thursday he has dealt with the grief of losing his son and daughter Angela-Joy with prayer and his faith.

Goicoechea said he went out for lunch on Sunday with his wife after he learned that his son had been in an accident. At that point, he didn’t know how serious it was.

“While I was sitting there, I was praying, ‘Oh God don’t take my Jonathan’, and I started crying,” Goicoechea said.

On Wednesday night, as the family of the two men continued to grieve, Goicoechea took a photo album full of pictures of his son to a prayer group in the Niagara Falls area. The group of nine people prayed for the half-brothers and their family.

Jonathan Goicoechea was also a passionate chef who took a culinary arts program in Niagara Falls. Goicoechea said his son moved to Ottawa about a year ago to work as a chef at the Orchard View on the Rideau retirement residence in Manotick, where his half-brother worked as a project manager.

Two men in the second vehicle were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said Thursday they did not have an update on their condition.
