Ottawa golfer Grace St-Germain moved into the outright lead at the Canadian junior girls golf championship with a second-round 2-under-par 70 on Wednesday at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club.
St-Germain, 15, matched her first-round score and holds a one-stroke lead over St-Hyacinthe, Que., golfer Valérie Tanguay, who recorded a 71 in the second round.
Play was suspended for one-and-a-half hours on Wednesday because of inclement weather, but when St-Germain got back on the course she closed with birdies on three of her final six holes.
“I think the delay got me to calm down a bit and just regroup, and I think that was good for me,” St-Germain said. “These are probably my best tournament scores in a row so far.”
