Yo La Tengo – a possibility for Bluesfest in 2013?
It’s not certain, but it’s a strong possibility that Yo La Tengo could play Bluesfest in Ottawa this summer.
There’s been no such announcement, but the art-rock stalwarts from New Jersey have posted a list of 2013 concert dates that hint of an Ottawa show.
Earlier this week the Big Beat reported that Belle and Sebastian will play Bluesfest on July 6: Bluesfest hasn’t confirmed the date — this summer’s lineup has yet to be announced — but the date is posted on Belle and Sebastian’s webpage.
After Belle and Sebastian leave Ottawa they continue on to a series of shows in the northeastern United States through the rest of July, and at most they’ll be performing with Yo La Tengo.
Over on Yo La Tengo’s webpage those U.S. dates with Belle and Sebastian are now posted, but there’s no mention of any July 6 date in Ottawa. However, nor does the schedule mention that Yo La Tengo is playing elsewhere on July 6, so the date remains open. As the band is already touring with Belle and Sebastian, and Belle and Sebastian is playing Bluesfest, it’s reasonable to anticipate that Yo La Tengo will play Ottawa as well.
Personally, I’m hoping Yo La Tengo does play Bluesfest. Mrs. Big Beat just bought me the band’s new album, Fade, on vinyl for Valentine’s Day. Watch the video below for a taste.
