Here and there:  Volunteer Ottawa needs a  bilingual receptionist from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
You’ll answer phones, offer guidance to prospective volunteers, track calls/messages, and assist staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2013 and exceptional customer service skills required. Also needed: a large group of VOscar volunteers on Thursday, Sept. 18, 6:30 p.m. at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum. Get on board:  The Y’s Owl Maclure Centre needs board members. Are you able to actively promote and communicate YOM’s mission/goals? Engage with Ottawa businesses to build stronger employment and support partnerships? Want to join an established, professional organization and bring innovative, creative thinking to the strategic planning of YOM? Understand the use of social media and marketing to promote YOM? Able to work as a team member toward setting and achieving our fundraising goals? Monthly meetings and some committee work is required. Colonel By Day:  The Council of Heritage Organizations needs enthusiastic and energetic volunteers on Aug. 3-4, for Colonel By Night setup and takedown, waste management and as a floater. Locations are the ByWard Market and the Colonel By Locks, by the Bytown Museum. Volunteers are also needed for the following positions: face painting assistant, exhibitor assistant, float (setup, maintenance and takedown), info-welcome booth site manager, survey administrator and waste management co-ordinator. Board members needed: Carty House assists female refugees and refugee claimants adjust to their new life in Canada. Their board oversees the management of the House and ensures that its mission is fulfilled in conformity with its legal obligations. You’ll develop policies, approve the annual budget, raise funds, manage property, communicate with the public and do succession planning.
