A 49-year-old woman is in the hospital in serious but stable condition after she was extricated from her car following a head-on collision Friday night.
The woman, who was driving and the only occupant in her vehicle may have head injuries.
The two vehicle crash at Spratt and Earl Armstrong roads and involved three other patients and “significant damage to both vehicles,” the Ottawa Paramedic Service said.
Two off-duty police officers and an ER nurse on her way to work helped the four until the firefighters, then paramedics, arrived on scene just after 6 p.m.
The three other patients are in stable condition and include a 30-year-old woman with a fractured wrist and multiple minor abrasions, a 39-year-old male with minor and an uninjured 7-month-old boy who was strapped in a car seat.
Ottawa Fire Services said firefighters removed the driver’s door using hydraulic rescue tools in order to get the 49-year-old woman out of the vehicle.
