THURSDAY, MAY 26 

Book Cover Art and Illustration: an evening with Rich Lauzon, coordinator and Pre-Animation and Illustration professor at Algonquin College. He will speak to writers about book art and cover design. Meet-and-greet begins at 6:30 p.m., presentation starts at 7 p.m., the Good Companions Seniors’ Centre, 670 Albert St. Come early for mingling, goodies and coffee. Free to OIW members; guests pay $10, which can go toward a membership if they decide to join. Plenty of parking at the back.

FRIDAY, JUNE 3 

The Poetic Prelude to Prose in the Park, featuring readings from eight anglophone and six francophone poets, takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Origin Studio, 57 Lyndale Ave. Refreshments will be served. Free event. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 4 

Ottawa’s favourite open-air literary festival and book fair, Prose in the Park, takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Parkdale Park. Sixty-seven moderators and panellists, and more than 100 authors and a dozen small presses, will be presenting and selling their latest works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
