Ottawa cops are hunting for an English-speaking black man after a series of hold-ups. Here’s the cop release:
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a series of retail robberies and is seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation.
On November 21, 2012, at approximately 2:15 pm, a lone male entered a gas station situated along the 3700 block of Fallowfield Road. The suspect, carrying a handgun, made a demand for cash and lottery tickets, leaving the premises with an undisclosed quantity of same.
On November 24, 2012, at approximately 5:15 pm, a lone male entered a pharmacy situated along the 1100 block of Wellington Street West. The suspect, carrying a handgun, made a demand for cash and prescription drugs. The suspect fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of prescription drugs.
On December 2, 2012, at approximately 9:35 pm, a lone male suspect entered a gas station situated along the 2100 block of Prince of Wales Drive. The suspect, carrying a handgun, made a demand for cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of same.
On December 8, 2012, at approximately 5:15 pm, a lone male suspect entered the same gas station situated along the 2100 block of Prince of Wales Drive. The suspect, carrying a handgun, made a demand for cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of same.
There have been no injuries in any of these incidents. The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit continues to investigate and review other robberies to ascertain if the suspect may be linked to more than the aforementioned.
The suspect is described as being a black male, approximately, 5 feet 8 inches (173 centimeters) to 6 feet tall (183 centimeters), thin to medium build, English speaking but with a noticeable accent.
The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has the following suggestions with respect to retail robberies:
· remain calm
· take no action that would jeopardize the safety of your employees, your customers or yourself
· obey the robber’s instructions
· make observations of the suspect(s) and contact police immediately after the suspect(s) leaves the premises
