AURORA, Ont. Police say a man accused in a string of Canadian bank robberies — including one in Ottawa — who was arrested in Switzerland has been returned to Canada to face charges.
York Region Police, a suburban Toronto force, issued an international arrest warrant and Jeffrey James Shuman was picked up in Geneva last September.

Between February and August 2010, it is reported he committed seven bank robberies in Vaughan and Markham by jumping over the teller counter, emptying the cash drawers and jumping back over the counter before fleeing.
Police allege the 53-year-old suspect is the bank robber who became dubbed the Vaulter, so named because the robberies involved a man jumping over bank counters “like a hurdler” during robberies.

A police news release says Shuman is accused in connection with 21 bank robberies over the last five years, 15 in the Greater Toronto Area, four in Calgary and one each in Hamilton and Ottawa.
Shuman appeared in court Sunday will remain in custody until his next court date on March 11.
Police are planning a news conference on Tuesday to talk about the case and the charges that have stemmed from the allegations against Shuman.
