Jaku Konbit is a non-profit, family-oriented organization supporting disadvantaged people and families of African and Caribbean descent. They need a camp counsellor during March Break, March 14-18, to help deliver their program of activities, which include reading, playing, dancing and accompanying group outings for kids ages six to 12. Canadian Federation of Humane Societies is the voice for animal welfare in Canada. They are seeking a volunteer graphic designer to produce a state-of-the-art digital English annual report, which will translate all their good works into an engaging modern format for their website, to be completed by the end of March or early April. The volunteer may also place their own logo on the website report, which averages thousands of hits each month. Ottawa Therapy Dogs is a respected partner in local health care facilities, as well as local schools and libraries, through their Reading Education Assistance Dogs program. Needed are responsible dog owners to volunteer with their own dog in health care and education facilities. For details about the process and to register for the information session, visit www.ottawatherapydogs.ca/become-a-therapy-dog.html. Opportunities also exist for people without a dog on their volunteer board of directors, and on finance, marketing and communications, community outreach and donor development/fundraising committees. Volunteers without dogs are also needed when they hold evaluations to test new therapy dog teams. The commitment is ongoing for one year and a police records check is required.
