Do you like volunteering? Want to encourage others to do the same? Volunteer Ottawa needs volunteers to staff information booths at various events throughout the community, as well as those who enjoy public speaking to do presentations about volunteerism. Improve your public speaking/communication skills, build confidence, and learn more about our community. Share your volunteer story with others. Tax time: The Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre needs volunteers to help with community tax clinics (March-April 2016). Volunteers are required to prepare the room for tax clinics, welcome residents, complete intake forms and submit the tax return E-File to Revenue Canada. Volunteer requirements include: must be 18 years or older, with an interest and ability to work with people. Experience with tax clinics or finances is an asset, and a Police Records Check is required (the cost will be reimbursed).

Have fun volunteering during the March breaks: The Canada Aviation and Space Museum needs volunteers to help with their one-day Maker and Engineering camp during the Quebec (Feb. 29 to March 4) and Ontario (March 14-18) breaks.

Choose the day(s) for which you want to volunteer. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interested candidates must have a valid police record check to volunteer with the vulnerable sector. Contact: Cedric St-Amour: cst-amour@techno-science.ca or 613-991-6091.

The Vanier Community Service Centre needs volunteers to assist staff with the School’s Cool Program, an English learning readiness course for parents and children. Program dates are March 21-April 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Responsibilities include: greeting families, room setup and cleanup, and help with learning materials. Volunteers must have experience, enjoy working with children ages three to five years, and be punctual, reliable and organized.
