The Royal Canadian Mounted Police will once again stage the showcase Sunset Ceremony in Ottawa this week in the lead-up to Canada Day.

It’s the 25th anniversary of the ceremony, which features the Mounties’ famous Musical Ride as its centrepiece.

The ceremony runs June 25 to June 29 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Musical Ride Centre at 1 Sandridge Rd. The show goes on rain or shine, except in extreme weather.

The ceremony also features a display of equestrian abilities and music from the RCMP/Ottawa Police Services pipes and drums and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, and a demonstration by Ottawa Valley Search and Rescue Dog Association. A Kids Zone features a petting zoo, an obstacle course and face painting.

Admission and parking is free, but visitors are encouraged to contribute to the RCMP Foundation, an arm’s length charity that supports community work by RCMP officers.

More information can be found on the RCMP website.
