Ottawa police made a public appeal Friday for witnesses to a shooting at a Debra Avenue community housing development to come forward.
On Thursday evening, police were called to 955 Debra Ave. for the third time in recent weeks. Police responded at about 6:15 p.m. after two men in a car were shot at multiple times by a man who fled the scene.
A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the second man was not injured.
Thursday’s shooting was the latest in a string of gun violence in the same Debra Dynes development.
On Nov. 23, police received two calls reporting shots fired just before 5 a.m.
When patrol officers arrived, they found no evidence of a shooting near unit #61.
Later that day, when the woman who lives in the unit returned home, she found bullet holes in the front window and bullets lodged in a wall.
The week before, police alleged 23-year-old Glodi Bushiri fired at a gold Dodge Charger outside the home. The unharmed driver of the Charger fled to a nearby parking lot and called police.
Police believed the first two shootings occurred because people who frequented that home were being targeted. It was not immediately known whether Thursday’s gunfire was related to those two shootings.
Anyone with information on Thursday’s shooting can call Ottawa police major crime section at 613-236-1222, ext.5493.
