The Ottawa Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect in a convenience store robbery in which the clerk was assaulted.
Police said the robbery occurred last Friday at about 3:15 a.m. when a man entered a convenience store on the 1800 block of Baseline Road. The suspect indicated he had a gun — although none was seen — and demanded the clerk hand over the cash.
There was an altercation between the suspect and the clerk, during which the employee was struck over the head with a phone. The clerk sustained minor injuries that did not require further medical attention.
The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash and is believed to have met a second suspect waiting outside the store. The pair were last seen running northbound on Navaho Drive towards Iris Street.
The suspect is described having a darker complexion, about 18 years old and about five-feet-eight-inches tall with a slim build and black hair. At the time, he was wearing a blue bomber jacket with a fur collar and a hood, black jeans, a white belt, and his underwear could be seen above his belt line.
Anyone with information with respect to this robbery is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116
