For more than a century, a wide walkway beside the Soeurs de la Visitation Monastery in Westboro was hidden from the public. Shaded by deciduous trees and stretching from the east side of the monastery complex to the rear of the property, it was used by the cloistered nuns living there for recreational purposes.
Now it’s being opened to the public.
Ashcroft Homes, which is developing the monastery site as a mixed-use condo project called Q West, has reconstructed the walkway, connecting it to a breezeway between two of the condo buildings that front Richmond Road and, in collaboration with the city, is giving it back to the community. The reopening is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
