Here’s a first: Windmill Developments is offering theatrical tours of the former Domtar and E.B. Eddy buildings at the Zibi site by the Chaudière Falls.

The guided tours, which run for three weekends beginning Saturday, feature members of Théatre Dérives Urbaines in Gatineau presenting “behind the scenes tales of the infamous innovators, entrepreneurs and local legends who played a key role in the founding of the National Capital Region,” Windmill says in a release. The buildings have been closed off from public access for a century.

Four daily tours (two in English and two in French) will begin between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 4. They’re free, but space is limited. Register at www.zibi.ca/historical-tours.

Zibi is Windmill’s $1.2-billion redevelopment project for 37 acres on Chaudière and Albert islands, as well as part of the Gatineau shoreline. It will include condos, retail and commercial space.
