As of Thursday evening, getting a chill on became a little easier.
Environment Canada lifted the heat warnings originally issued Monday covering the Ottawa and St. Lawrence river valleys from Algonquin eastward, and the north shore of Lake Ontario through the Golden Horseshoe.
The weather agency said Thursday evening’s temperatures across Eastern Ontario would dip to around 17 C with a light breeze.
Friday’s high was expected to peak at around 27 under partly cloudy skies. There was a risk of an afternoon thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening, with the temperature falling to a low of 15.
Temperatures during this week’s heat wave rose as high as the mid 30s and with the humidity the air felt as warm as 40 degrees, prompting the heat warning.
