A 36-year-old commercial tree-felling worker died after he fell from a branch he was cutting in a private backyard in the Kinburn area Tuesday afternoon.
Paramedics arrived at 3697 Stonecrest Rd. shortly after 1:30 p.m. to find the worker “critically injured with traumatic injuries.” Ottawa police said the man fell from a tree as he was cutting a branch, then the branch fell on top of him.
A helicopter ambulance was brought to the scene while paramedics tried “aggressively” to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither the name of the worker nor the employer has been released.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour was investigating.
The worker’s death occurred only hours after two other workplace incidents on Tuesday.
Two men in their 20s were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries, and another was treated on-scene after an industrial accident on downtown Bank Street shortly before 5 a.m.
Later, a 65-year-old man was taken to hospital with traumatic head injuries after he was hit by a falling piece of equipment in Kanata shortly after 10 a.m.
