Ottawa police are investigating after the body of a young man was recovered from the Ottawa River downstream from the Alexandra Bridge, Tuesday morning.

Police have not yet identified the victim, though the discovery comes 10 days after 24-year-old Misha Novikov was swept into the Deschenes Rapids after his inflatable dingy capsized near Britannia Beach.

One other man in the dingy was rescued by firefighters, but an extensive search turned up no sign of Novikov after the June 1 mishap. He is presumed drowned.

Ottawa Fire Service launched their water rescue boat from the Hull Marina at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday after someone spotted the body in the river. It was recovered a short time later.
