The WE Gowling Song & Story Fest is a used book and music sale in support of literacy resources for WE Gowling Public School. There will be books and music for all ages, with prices between 50 centre to $2, as well as a barbecue, bake sale and raffle prizes. Come for the sale, stay for a free workshop. Internationally renowned forensic anthropologist Debra Komar tackles her biggest case yet, The Bastard of Fort Stikine: The Hudson’s Bay Company and the Murder of John McLoughlin Jr.a dark mystery at the heart of Hudson’s Bay Company history; 7 p.m. at the Ottawa Public Library, 120 Metcalfe St. The event will include her powerful presentation, “Murder at Fort Stikine: Solving a Centuries-Old Crime in the Hudson’s Bay Company,” transporting readers deep into the worlds of frontier justice and forensic science, and is free and open to the public.
