The Refugee Network of Ottawa and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will mark World Refugee Day 2015 on June 19 with Living Histories: Refugees’ journeys in Canada.
The event will feature around a dozen speakers who will share their stories about what it was like to arrive to Canada as refugees many years ago. Speakers will be talking in small groups at various speakers’ stations.
The initiative aims to provide a broader picture of Canada’s involvement with refugees dating back several decades up until the present.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second floor of the YMCA at 180 Argyle St. Light refreshments will be provided, but attendees can also bring their own lunches. The venue is accessible and families with young children are welcome.
