Re: ‘Elated’ musician reunited with guitar left inside taxi, May 28.
Ottawa musician Dave Nadeau is happily reunited with his Gibson Les Paul guitar. That’s great news. While it was missing, though, some pretty harsh criticism was levied at Blue Line Taxi and its drivers. Yet Blue Line came through in the end, as I suspect it usually does.

In 2007, I arrived in Spain for a four-week holiday to discover all but one credit card and one bank card missing from my wallet: no phone card, no back up credit card or bank card, no health or insurance card or driving licence. Nada! Calls home didn’t unearth them there. Intuition told me they hadn’t been stolen so I decided, perhaps foolishly, to put it all out of my mind till my return, hoping I wouldn’t have a health emergency.
Once home, I found a message on my phone from Blue Line. They had all my cards — they had slipped onto the back floor of the taxi as I paid my fare. By chance, the same driver picked me up a few months later and I learned he had not only turned them in to Blue Line, but had also spent a fruitless hour at the airport trying to catch me before I boarded. Now that’s going above and beyond.
