Three children were among the injured following a “serious” collision between a minivan and a pickup truck at the intersection of Spratt and Earl Armstrong roads in the Riverside South area at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
The impact of the collision was enough to flip the pickup truck, leaving it on its roof.
When Ottawa paramedics arrived, they found three children and one adult, all passengers in the minivan, who required medical attention.
A three-year-old girl was treated for facial injuries after her car seat dislodged from the rear bench sending her into the vehicle’s centre console. A five-year-old girl was treated for a shoulder injury, while a 17-month-old girl was treated for abrasions and a 35-year-old woman in the van who was treated for abdominal, knee and ankle injuries.
They were all transported to hospital for further treatment.
The female driver of the minivan and the male driver of the pickup truck refused assessment of their injuries at the scene.
Ottawa police are investigating the incident.
