Good Friday, meet snowbound Saturday.

You might want to trade your Easter bonnet for a toque, as Environment Canada is calling for accumulating snow in many areas south of the city Friday night into Saturday morning.

The special weather statement, issued Friday afternoon, covers areas including Brockville, Leeds and Grenville, Cornwall, and Prescott and Russell.

Environment Canada says a weather system tracking across the region will bring snowfalls of four to eight centimetres in many areas Friday night. As much as 10 centimetres of snow is possible in certain areas, the agency says.

Environment Canada warns of deteriorating driving conditions overnight, and says untreated roads may become slippery.

In Ottawa, where the temperature hit as high as 15 C on Friday, the weather service is calling for two centimetres of snow Friday night, with a low temperature of -4 C.
