No charges will be laid in the investigation into a fatal collision involving a 40-year-old female cyclist last fall during a charity event hosted by the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
Laurie Strano was killed when she was struck by a garbage truck while riding on River Road south of Manotick on Saturday, Sept. 6. Ottawa Police said Wednesday that its collision investigations unit had completed its investigation into the crash.
Strano, a mother of two and an Ottawa Hospital executive, was riding with senior hospital managers on the return leg of the 100-kilometre Ride the Rideau event for cancer research.
Collision investigators have determined no charges will be laid against the 29-year-old truck driver. Strano’s death will continue to be investigated by the office of Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, the regional supervising coroner.
