Ottawa police are seeking public assistance to identify a determined bank holdup suspect who apparently returned to a Blackburn Hamlet bank branch on Monday about two weeks after allegedly forgetting his holdup note in a previous attempt at the branch.

Police say the suspect first struck Jan. 23 at a bank in the 2600 block of Innes Road in Blackburn Hamlet around 7:40 p.m.

He fumbled through his pockets but was unable to find his holdup note and fled the bank empty handed. There were no injuries.

The man was allegedly better prepared on Monday when he hit the same bank branch at about 5:50 p.m. This time, he had a note ready and indicated he had a gun.

Employees handed over a quantity of cash, but the suspect pulled out the handgun and demanded more, which was provided. He fled running eastbound along Innes Road with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

In between, on Sunday, Feb. 8, at about 3:30 p.m. the same suspect is believed to have hit a bank branch in the 2300 block of St. Joseph Boulevard in Orléans. The suspect produced a note to a teller, indicating he had a gun and demanding cash.

The suspect fled empty handed when he was told the teller had no access to cash.

There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 19 and 23 years of age, with a slim build, between 5’6′ and 5’8″ (168 cm-173 cm) in height and is likely right-handed.

Anyone with information with respect to these robberies is asked to contact the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116.
