The Ottawa police’s fraud unit is advising residents of Ottawa about fraudulent door-to-door solicitations by someone claiming to be with the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society.
Residents have reported that between January and February a suspicious man has been going door-to-door claiming to collect money for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society. Ottawa police have contacted the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society who confirmed that there are no current fundraisers going on at this time.
He has presented outdated pamphlets and often fraudulently represents himself as a paramedic, a firefighter or a police officer.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 40’s, 6′ tall (183 cm), with an athletic build. He was last seen clean shaven and with short hair. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
