span-o (the small press action network – ottawa) presents The Factory Reading Series, three readings and chapbook launches by Kemeny Babineau, Jason Christie and Chris Johnson, hosted by rob mclennan. Doors 7 p.m.; reading 7:30 p.m. at The Carleton Tavern, 223 Armstrong St. (at Parkdale, upstairs)

SATURDAY, JAN. 24 

Dick Bourgeois-Doyle, author of What’s So Funny? Lessons from Canada’s Leacock Medal for Humour Writing, will be launching his book at the Comedy Night for Parkinson’s, 7:30 p.m. at Tudor Hall, 3750 Bowesville Rd. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased from the Parkinson Society for Eastern Ontario (www.parkinsons.ca) All proceeds from the evening’s book sales go to Parkinson’s.
