After a lengthy court battle with the Ottawa Athletic Club, the fitness facility in the Ottawa Train Yards, which was formerly called The Athletic Club, has now rebranded itself as Movati Athletic.
In July, The Ottawa Athletic Club (OAC) won a trademark dispute when the Federal Court of Canada ruled the Athletic Club‘s trademark “invalid” and permanently prohibited the club from using it. The decision forced the club — which operates 11 fitness clubs in Ontario, including facilities in Orléans and at the Ottawa Train Yards, to rebrand its operations in Ottawa.
The club secured an injunction that allowed it to open and operate until now. It announced its new brand, Movati, on Monday morning.
