Two local artists with two different styles offered their unique take on automotive art on Saturday at the Wicked Garage facility in Greely, part of Art on Wheels, Ottawa’s first art show in a working automotive high-performance repair, customization and fabrication shop.
“Some cars are art and this show highlights how these artists have created unique and interesting artwork in two different mediums that capture the art of the car,” said Roger Grenon of Wicked Garage.
“We’re presenting the art in our shop where we work on muscle car, hot rod, kit car, classic and import projects for our customers, and we’ll have a few cars in progress on display as well.”
The first in what Roger hopes will be a series of Art on Wheels shows highlights the work of Ottawa photographer Joe Aragona and Ottawa colored pencil artist Amie Talbot.
Joe Aragona has been photographing cars for more than 30 years. His photos capture the gleam of chrome accents and the dance of light across the highly-polished curves of sculpted fenders on luminous dye-infused aluminum prints.
Amie Talbot works exclusively in colored pencil. Her work includes highly detailed antique/exotic cars that capture both light and reflection. The depth and richness in her art capture the eye with incredible realism.
