Ottawa police have laid a series of charges against three Ottawa males in relation to a robberies on Prince of Wales Drive on three occasions, with the first happening on Sept. 26.
On Oct. 21, 2014, at about 1:30 a.m., two suspects entered the gas station in the 1300 block of Prince of Wales Drive. One suspect was armed with a knife. The suspects jumped the counter and demanded cash and cigarettes. They fled with an undisclosed quantity of each. There were no injuries.
The suspects fled to a vehicle that had been reported stolen on Oct. 19 from the 1100 block of Meadowlands Drive.
On Monday, two suspects arrived at the same gas station on Prince of Wales Drive at about 5 a.m. One suspect pumped gas into the car and then entered the gas station booth area. Once the door was open, the second suspect entered carrying a knife and crowbar.
However, due to the earlier incidents and preventative measures put in place the suspects were unable to access the employee and merchandise and the suspects fled empty-handed.
A short time later, police spotted the car on Carling Avenue and the suspects were arrested without incident.
Two male youths, both 15, of Ottawa, are charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon and one count of possession over $5,000.
The suspects appeared in court Tuesday and remain in custody.
Police arrested a third suspect Wednesday in relation to the Sept. 26 robbery.
Thuy-Duong Dao, 33, of Ottawa, is charged with one count of robbery, one count of wearing a disguise and one count of possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
