The young and young at heart came out to see — and play — Santa on Saturday morning for the Help Santa Toy Parade.
Ottawa firefighters have been holding the annual event for 45 years, collecting new toys and money along the parade route, with donations distributed to less fortunate children in the city.
As in years past, there were be floats, bands and clowns from around the province, organizers say — plus the big elf in the red and white suit, of course.
The parade started at National Archives on Wellington Street all the way to Bank Street, turning up Bank until it reaches Laurier Avenue, then turning east on Laurier until it finishes at Elgin Street.
Donations can also be dropped off at any Ottawa fire station until mid-December.
