Residents of Overbrook will be able to chat with City of Ottawa staff members about Light Rail Transit at an open house at the Overbrook Community Centre on Thursday night.

Residents of the neighbourhood, which is bordered west to east by the the Rideau River at St. Laurent Boulevard and north to south by Donald Street and Highway 417, can meet at the community centre, 33 Quill St., starting at 6:30 p.m. to hear from the community association about various projects in the area.

City staff are expected to arrive at 7:45 p.m. to discuss the LRT and its effects in the area.

Overbrook is seeing more than its fair share of construction.

The community is experiencing heavy construction and lane closures on the Vanier Parkway and St. Laurent Boulevard as well as Coventry Road, which is undergoing reconstruction and project to replace a water main. On top of that, Belfast Bridge is closed for reconstruction and Highway 417 has sporadic onramp closures as well as lane closures to accommodate the widening of the highway, which is aimed at easing traffic flow into the city’s East end.

The community association is urging area residents with questions about the LRT and the construction it requires to attend the Thursday night meeting.
