A 32-year-old diplomat was arrested Tuesday night after police received a call about a vehicle being driven erratically.
When Ottawa police stopped the vehicle around 9:30 p.m. on Bank Street near Johnston Road, they confirmed the driver was a diplomat with full immunity status.
Police said the man showed signs of impairment, but he refused to give a breath sample.
The diplomat was arrested, then released into the care of staff at an embassy. Police would not say for which embassy the diplomat worked.
Police were continuing their investigation and were in contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
