Meiko, the petite, three-year-old Yorkie-Pekingese mix who was stolen earlier this month while his elderly owner was grocery shopping, is back home, Ottawa police say.
Meiko was returned to his owner Monday morning after he was spotted by a member of the public, who called police.
The small dog was taken on Oct. 10 from his owner’s vehicle at the Loblaws on McArthur Avenue near the Vanier Parkway. The owner left Meiko in the car while she shopped for 10 minutes.
Investigators say the dognapper was a white man in a black coat who left in a silver or beige SUV, but no arrests had been made by Monday afternoon.
Police are continuing their investigation.
