Re: Fulfill Commanda’s vision at Chaudière, Oct. 6.
In his opinion piece, Peter Raaymakers makes a compelling case for a different kind of development around Chaudière Falls. I was recently at an event where Douglas Cardinal shared his design for the area — the pictures are stunning, integrating landscape and grounded in aboriginal principles and values, again, of the land. The design alone is well worth pursuing for our nation’s capital.
But more importantly, it’s hard to imagine a more meaningful gesture of reconciliation as we approach the report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 2015. Let’s see this generation of settlers return this piece of sacred land to its legal owners.
There is so much empty land nearby on LeBreton Flats. Let’s have a beautiful development by Windmill Developments there instead.
