A man has been arrested after allegedly holding up a drugstore with a fake gun and fighting with police, leaving one officer with minor injuries.
Duncan McCallum, 29, was charged in connection with the Thursday morning robbery at the pharmacy near Bank Street and Hunt Club Road.
At about 3 a.m., a man wearing sunglasses and a bandana came into the drugstore holding what appeared to be a gun. He passed a note to the pharmacist demanding prescription drugs, which he was given.
After fleeing on foot, he was spotted by police and arrested, but not before tussling with the arresting officers.
The suspect was transported to hospital after sustaining minor injuries, before being taken into police custody. One police officer also received minor injuries, and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Police recovered the stolen drugs and determined that the handgun used in the robbery was a replica.
McCallum faces 10 charges, including use of an imitation firearm in the act of committing an offence and assault with the intent to resist arrest.
